cause 

❤ the reason or motive, for an action
❤ why something happens
❤happens first
❤ example: it rained

effect

❤ result or conclusion of an action
❤ what happened 
❤ happens due to a cause 
❤ example: I got wet 

'A' lead to 'B' 🔁 'cause' lead to 'effect'


✔example : it rained, so I got wet

✔ to find a cause, ask, why did this happen? it raned

✔ to find a effect, ask, what happen? I got wet


clue/signal word when we talk about cause:

we use the following signal word
  • because
  • the reason for 
  • on account of
  • bring about 
  • give rise to
  • created by
  • contributed to 
  • lead to
  • due to
  • for this reason 
  • unless

clue/signal word when we talk about effect:

resulting from certain cause, we use following signal word
  • as a result 
  • then
  • hence
  • for this reason 
  • therefore
  • outcome
  • so
  • consequently 
  • finally 
  • in order to 

let's take a look at the sentence structure 

🅰️ due to, because of, owing to and tanks to are followed by a noun
🅱️ because, since, as, for and as a result of are followed by a verb 




dialogue 

A: hi how are you. 

B: I'm fine, how about you? 

A: I'm good too, where are you ?

B: I'm in the kitchen because I'm hungry

A: oh yeah btw, I want to tell you for a group assignment we will discuss tomorrow afternoon in the group. 

B: fine, thanks for telling. 

A: Don't forget. 

B: yes of course. we have to do it because we don't want to be punished. 

A: okay, see you. 

B: see you.


conclusion: (pay atetntion to word in bold)

✔ to find a cause, ask, why did this happen? ✔ to find a effect, ask, what happen?

sentence: I'm in the kitchen because I'm hungry

clue/signal: because

cause: I'm hungry

effect: I'm in the kitchen

sentence: we have to do it because we don't want to be punished. 

clue/signal: because

HABIBIE Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie known as BJ. Habibie was born on 25 June 1936. He was the Third President of the Republic of Indonesia (1998–1999). Habibie was born in Parepare, South Sulawesi Province to Alwi Abdul Jalil Habibie and R.A. Tuti Marini Puspowardojo. His father was an agriculturist from Gorontalo of Bugis descent and his mother was a Javanese noblewoman from Yogyakarta. His parents met while studying in Bogor.
