chapter 13: figure of speech

chapter 13

figure of speech

hello reader, would you like to study with me? how about we learn 'figure of speech'? yes, it's a good idea. let's start it💪.

figure of speech

let's learn together, I also don't really understand this, but from what I read on the internet. Reporting from Brittanica, figurative is an expression or figure of speech used for literacy needs both oral and written. Speech images serve to beautify English words which are usually used to write song, poetry, and even prose. (dalam bahasa indonesia figurative of speech = majas)

in the figurative of speech there are several examples such as simile, hyperbole, metaphor personification, etc.

hyperbole

this hyperbole tense seems to exaggerate something.
example:
I've told you to stop a thousand times.
That must have cost a billion dollars.
I could do this forever.
She's older than dirt.
Everybody knows that.

personification

the point is that the sentence used in the sentence gives a picture of the object as if the object is alive.
example:
The flowers nodded.
Dancing snowflakes.
The thunder grumbled.
The mist slipped in.
The wind howled.

metaphor

It is a figure of speech used to compare something or an idea.
example:
Heart of stone
Time is money
The world is a stage
She’s a night owl
falling in love

simile

is a figure of speech that compares or presupposes something or an object. Sometimes, similes like to be confused with metaphors which also have a form of comparison. In fact, simile and metaphore have different structures. Simile has the characteristics of the words like, as, or similar to.
example:
As slippery as an eel
Like peas in a pod
As blind as a bat
Eats like a pig
As wise as an owl

I'm getting dizzy😵, shall we sing?🎶🎵

Set Fire To The Rain

Adele

I let it fall, my heart
And as it fell, you rose to claim it
It was dark and I was over
Until you kissed my lips and you saved me
My hands, they're strong
But my knees were far too weak
To stand in your arms
Without falling to your feet

But there's a side to you
That I never knew, never knew
All the things you'd say
They were never true, never true
And the games you play
You would always win, always win

But I set fire to the rain
Watched it pour as I touched your face
Well, it burned while I cried
'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name!

When I lay with you
I could stay there
Close my eyes
Feel you're here forever
You and me together
Nothing gets better

'Cause there's a side to you
That I never knew, never knew
All the things you'd say
They were never true, never true
And the games you play
You would always win, always win

But I set fire to the rain
Watched it pour as I touched your face
Well, it burned while I cried
'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name!

I set fire to the rain
And I threw us into the flames
Well, it felt something died
'Cause I knew that that was the last time, the last time!

Sometimes I wake up by the door
That heart you caught, must be waiting for you
Even now that we're already over
I can't help myself from looking for you

I set fire to the rain
Watch it pour as I touch your face
Well, it burned while I cried
'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name

I set fire to the rain
And I threw us into the flames
Well, it felt something died
'Cause I knew that was the last time
The last time, oh, oh!

It burn!

beautiful voice👏👍

The song "Set Fire to The Rain" talks about a relationship that ended miserably. In this song, it is told that Adele meets an extraordinary man, who can make Adele feel comfortable. The man also promised various things to Adele, before finally Adele knew that all the extraordinary things that man gave to Adele, were a lie. Because of the evidence, that man left Adele with a wound and a broken heart. 💔
The word Set Fire to The Rain in the song's title is actually the perfect supposition. Rain can be interpreted as a cry / tears while fire can be interpreted as an emotion. So when combined, these words can actually mean a "cry full of emotion."😔😭

as explained above, usually in songs there are figures of speech..

I was over
'saya sudah berakhir' (bait 1, baris 3)

the games you'd play
'permainan yang kau mainkan'  (bait 2, baris 3)

I set fire to the rain
'aku membakar hujan' (bait 3, baris 1)

I threw us into the flames
'aku melempar kenangan kita ke dalam nyala api' (bait 7, baris 2)

it burned while I cried
'itu terbakar saat aku berteriak' (bait 3, baris 3)

That heart you caught, must be waiting for you
'hati yang kau curi harus mennunggu mu' (bait 9, baris 2)
