Chapter 15: stop bullying

Why did it happen? 

Bullying among teenagers is very common. From then until now, the culture of bullying is still there. I think bullying keeps happening because 
1. "Maybe just for fun or joking" even though the mindset that causes bullying is considered trivial. This thing that is considered trivial even though it has many big impacts on the victim. They can be depressed, feel lonely, and become antisocial. Worse, parents and teachers may not even be aware of the problem in their school. 
2. Victims who experience bullying must be afraid to tell stories. Friends of the victim who saw the bullying were also afraid to report it, so no one stood up for the victim. The "stop bullying" movement is nonsense when there is no action. There was no action because no one reported it.

Definition bullying

Bullying is the use of force, coercion, hurtful teasing or threat, to abuse, aggressively dominate or intimidate. The behavior is often repeated and habitual.(m.wikipedia.org) 

The type of bullying



There are at least four types of bullying.

  • Physical bullying can involve hitting, kicking, pinching, pushing, or otherwise attacking others.
  • ‌Verbal bullying refers to the use of words to harm others with name-calling, insults, making sexual or bigoted comments, harsh teasing, taunting, mimicking, or verbal threats.
  • ‌social bullying focuses on excluding someone from a peer group, usually through verbal threats, spreading rumors, and other forms of intimidation.
  • ‌Cyberbullying is the use of technology to harass, threaten, embarrass, or target another person. This includes bullying by use of email, instant messaging, social media websites (such as Facebook), text messages, and cell phones.

Stop bullying movement 

Oppression is often used as the theme of stories in various works, whether printed works such as novels, comics, or magazines or electronics such as films, songs, or soap operas. Usually what is raised is bullying between adolescents and is set in a school environment. One of the titles of works of art on this theme are: 

  • Gajah - one of Tulus's songs that tells about the past of someone who is a victim of bullying.

but in my opinion, this movement is still not able to stop bullying if there is no awareness of each student.



I hope that bullying can be stopped, so that all students can feel comfortable studying and making friends at school. 🌞

HABIBIE Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie known as BJ. Habibie was born on 25 June 1936. He was the Third President of the Republic of Indonesia (1998–1999).
